BRANZ 'test' and approve everything that is used on building sites, so if they are dropping the ball then the potential for thousands of other products being used in construction being unsuitable is very tangible.

Or, the material was not used correctly. Both the council and the builder's responsibility. The lack of information about 'why' this building failed seems to scream of "egg on face".

Why can't people just fess up and admit their mistakes? If they done', how can they be prevented from happening again? Sweeping problems under the carpet doesn't make them go away, it just makes them fester for a while...

Subject: Does nobody have a leaky home? Lucky you! - by: Leaky http://www.leakyhomeforum.co.nz/12-general/10-does-nobody-have-a-leaky-home-lucky-you#10 http://www.leakyhomeforum.co.nz/12-general/10-does-nobody-have-a-leaky-home-lucky-you#10
You really need to get your heads out of the sand people. Your house will be worth nothing in 10 years time, the council will tell you to move out because it is dangerous, and you will be left with no home, a mortgage, and nobody to blame but yourself.

Even worse, your kids will be left with the rotting dump.

Come on. 80,000 homes!! You cannot seriously think you are a 'lucky' one? There's a lot at stake. Ask for advice, it won't cost you anything! ]]>

It cracks me up how some builders put these on top of obviously leaky parapets and balustrades, when if you look around the rest of the house you know that balustrades and parapets are only the start of the problems.... ]]>

I personally can't see how such a product can sell. Most building work now carries a Masterbuilders guarantee, so why would you need an additional Weathertightness Warranty?

Besides, why get a warranty when you can just sue the builder/developer? Seems like a waste of time, this warranty. ]]>

I am working through a few glitches, mainly including spammers. but I hope it works for you in the way intended.

I have moved the focus from providing information on the site, to showing you where you can find the information yourself via trusted links, and even better ask questions via the forum.

The Financial Assistance Package should have caused a much larger rush to the WHT and court rooms than it did, considering the number of leaky homes we KNOW are out there. My conclusion, be it correct or not, is that many people still aren't taking this seriously.

Therefore, I urge anybody who has the slightest doubt about their home to ask about what they should do here, and I will do my best to find the answers you need, or ask one of my trusted contributors to do so.

Enjoy, and let's start posting! ]]>
